Organization History

The Mangrove Care Forum Bali (MCFB) Bali, also known as Forum Peduli Mangrove Bali (FPMB), is formed with the aim to protect, preserve, rehabilitate, replant and educate, as a concerted effort to save the mangroves. Supported by the Artha Graha Peduli Foundation, the team at the Mangrove Care Forum Bali draws from 16 years of experience the foundation has in caring for and operating the Tambling Wildlife Nature Conservation Park, located at South Bukit Barisan National Park, within 356,000 hectares of Tropical Rainforest and 21,600 hectares of Marine Nature Reserve. Initiated by Tomy Winata at the start of 2013, the Mangrove Care Forum Bali is established.

Vision

Forum Peduli Mangrove Bali (FPMB) or Mangrove Care Forum Bali vision is to revitalize and preserve mangrove forest in Indonesia especially in Bali through community empowerment to support government green program.

Mission

  • Conserve mangrove forest and create clean environment on its surrounding
  • Raise community awareness on the importance of mangrove and its benefits
  • Safeguarding mangrove forest from any destructive and illegal human activities
  • Research and development on mangrove conservation and its benefits
  • Empowering the community to improve their welfare by utilizing the very existence of mangrove forest

Milestones

February 2013

  • Mangrove Care Forum Bali first concept initiation between Artha Graha Peduli Foundation with each head of Community Development Institution and head of 5 villages that surround Benoa Bay, namely: Tanjung Benoa, Benoa, Jimbaran, Kedonganan, and Tuban.
  • Then on February 17, 2013, all five Head of Community Development Institution made a petition for collaboration to Artha Graha Peduli Foundation to form Mangrove Care Forum Bali.

March 2013

  • On March 18, 2013, by mutual agreement, the submission process of Mangrove Care Forum Bali (FPMB) legality as Non-Governmental Organization is submitted to the Notary. FPMB, where its secretariat office is located in Tanjung Benoa, has the objective to carry out the revitalization program of Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park.

April 2013

  • On April 18, 2013, FPMB was declared based on its Deed of Incorporation and inaugurated by the Head of Forestry Local Office and witnessed by officials on provincial, district, sub-district and village level.

June 2013

  • The inauguration of Cristiano Ronaldo as the Ambassador of Mangrove Care Forum Bali, which was attended by the 6th President of Indonesia, Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his ministers, with 1,000 invited representatives of local residents and students to participate in mangrove planting event.

July 2013

  • FPMB Task Force Inaugurated by the Governor of Bali, Made Mangku Pastika, which consist of 140 volunteers from six representative villages surrounding Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park.
  • Collaborated with Mina Mangrove Jimbaran fishermen group, FPMB develop milkfish farming as one of the fish that live in mangrove area in Seme river watershed in Jimbaran.

October 2013

  • FPMB participated in 2013 Asia Pacific Summit Collaborating Event in Bali to introduce mangrove products to the community.

June 2014

  • FPMB worked together with Prapat Agung Mengening Patasari Fishermen to revitalize the watersheds area in Patasari, Kuta, by cleaning the river from waste, dredging the mud sedimentation, and planting mangrove. In the same year, the Badung regency gave a postive responded to this effort by building a Long Storage.

June 2015

  • Together with Forest Management Agency of Region VIII, FPMB conducted maintenance work to replaced and repainted Tahura boundary stone in order to get the latest data on Ngurah Rai Grand Forest boundaries.

December 2015

  • FPMB participated in UNFCCC COP 21 in Paris, France, to represent Indonesia and Artha Graha Peduli as one of the successful examples of private sector contribution in Indonesia who participate in fighting climate change.

February 2016

  • On February 7th, 2016, Sabar Gorky was inaugurated as the second Ambassador of Mangrove Care Forum Bali. This inauguration was held along with mangrove planting event in Telaga Waja, Tanjung Benoa. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the delegation of National Press Day committee and foreign journalists from Turkey and Confederation of ASEAN Journalists (CAJ).

March 2016

  • FPMB collaborated with students of Trisakti University in planting 1000 mangrove trees in Tanjung Pasir, Tangerang.
